Frequently Asked Questions

What if we don’t have any synthesisers or electronic instruments in our classroom?

That’s ok! We bring plenty of instruments for students to explore. We also have a suite of laptops loaded with DAW software.

We will liaise with your music department prior to the session to decide on the best approach for your school.

Additionally, we can coordinate multi-seat software licences for your school and students free of charge. Often this is a great way to ensure everyone has access to the tools even after we leave.

What does the session look like?

Workshops range from loud and dynamic, through to more theoretical and in depth sessions learning to use computers and the DAW.

All sessions involve class discussions, independent work (usually in headphones) and sharing work with the group to offer peer-to-peer feedback

How many sessions can be done in a day?

3 x 90 Minute sessions is our daily maximum

Can you customise something that will appeal to our students/cohort?

We have a suite of pre-planned programs that can be customised to best reflect the interests of your students. For example, we can change our ‘Sound design for Gaming’ session into one which focusses on sound for Film and Television

Are there supporting materials?

Yes. We always provide supporting materials for our sessions. This will guide teachers on how to build some prior knowledge before we arrive, as well as follow up activities and assessments that can expand on our visit.

Are the workshops only for music students?

No! We encourage anyone who is interested to have a go at making music with us. We have seen how a non-traditional approach to music can ignite a creative spark in people who previously hadn’t had any interest in this space. Similarly, this approach can help lower some of the fear factor for those who feel daunted by traditional music language and notation.
